Dan (Hebrew: דָּן; Modern: Dan; Tiberian: Dān) is the fifth son of Jacob (latter named by Hashem as Israel), with Bilhah. He is also the father of the Ancient Israelite Tribe of Dan and of the Danites.
And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son. And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.

The Tribe of Dan (Hebrew: שֵׁבֶט דָּן; Modern: Shevet Dan; Tiberian: Šḗḇeṭ Dān) is one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
