Levi (Hebrew: לֵּוִי; Modern: Levy; Tiberian: Lēwî) is the third son of Jacob (latter named by Hashem as Israel), with Leah. He is also the father of the Ancient Israelite Tribe of Levi and of the Levites.
And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
Genesis 29:33
The Prophetic Blessing of Jacob prior to his death:
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father. Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
Genesis 49:1-2, 5-7
The Tribe of Simeon
The Tribe of Levi (Hebrew: שֵׁבֶט לֵּוִי; Modern: Shevet Levy; Tiberian: Šḗḇeṭ Lēwî) is one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: Yahweh Elohim of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
Joshua 13:33
