Asher (Hebrew: אָשֵׁר; Modern: Asher; Tiberian: ʼĀšēr) is the eighth son of Jacob (latter named by Hashem as Israel), with Zilpah. He is also the father of the Ancient Israelite Tribe of Asher and of the Asherites.
And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a second son. And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.
Genesis 30:12-13
The Prophetic Blessing of Jacob prior to his death:
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father. Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
